Isostacy is the state of gravitational equilibrium that exists between the earth crust and the mantle where the crust floats at an elevation in the mantle depending on the density and thickness of the material making up the crust. this concept often is used to explain the existence of different topographical heights on the earth surface. isostacy always seeks to
